We had our “light bulb” moment in 2000. We’d been running COBRA Outsourcing Company for hundreds of employer clients on legacy technology with all in-house manual processes, and we were struggling with efficiency and scale. Then the light bulb. We realized we’d been running our business on a technology platform built for one employer to administer compliance with a law and then kluged to allow businesses like ours do this compliance management for multiple employers. We were not running a system built to run the business we were running. Ahah‼ So, we first built our own technology platform (COBRApoint in 2001) and then began working on automating the big moving parts of our business. Scale, efficiency, and profitability followed in a flood.
In 2006 we sold COBRA Outsourcing Company and shifted our focus to providing state-of-the-art, business-optimized technology and integrated back-office services to our former competitors (TPAs) and partners (health plans). Everything we do today is rooted in our hard-won personal experience and is about empowering scale, efficiency, and profitability for our customers.
